Most of the time, coaches take more blame than is appropriate. After all, coaches don’t block, tackle, fumble or grab facemasks. The players do that, so they’re ultimately more responsible than guys with headsets, bad comb-overs and beer guts. Most of the time. Sunday afternoon in Atlanta, Georgia was not one of those times. The Packers, using something similar to sleight of hand, actually had us believing they had changed many of their famously - or is that infamously? - self-defeating ways from previous years. Also apparently gone were the poor special teams performances this [...] Finally, some actual news came from the Green Bay Packers on Monday night as they re-signed strong safety/special teams ace Derrick Martin to a two-year contract, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. Terms were not immediately announced. Martin was scheduled to be a restricted free agent. Halfway through the 2009 NFL season, the Green Bay Packers were anywhere but where they wanted to be. It looked like another lost season as question marks – or just downright negatives – far outweighed any positives.
